How we work

An honest service, by design.

We don't sell solar. We help you buy it right. Our consultants don't carry a brand on the truck, don't earn a commission on the kit, and don't get paid until the system you chose is actually installed. That's the whole model.

No retailer favourites

We're not owned by, and don't have exclusive deals with, any retailer. Whichever installer suits your roof, your bill and your network wins — your consultant earns the same fee either way.

CEC-accredited & vetted

Every retailer on our panel is Clean Energy Council-approved as a baseline — then has to pass our own checklist on install quality, warranty support and customer-service track record before they take a single one of our referrals.

Paid only on install

Retailers pay us a flat referral fee — only when the work is actually done. No commission per kilowatt, no quota for any brand, no kickback on a battery upgrade. If you walk away from the quote, we walk too. No cost, no pressure, no awkward follow-up call.

Your neighbours have already switched.

More than 4 in 10 Australian homes now run on rooftop solar — the highest per-capita uptake on earth. 400,000 of them added a battery in the last 10 months alone. Together, Australian rooftops keep $26 billion a year out of grid bills — and pay for a quieter kind of energy independence.

Tell your consultant about your house

Pick your system type, drop in your address, upload a recent power bill. Your consultant turns it into a brief specific to your roof, your usage, and the way your household actually consumes electricity.

The right panel-and-inverter combination for your roof, sized for the next 10 years of your power bill — not the cheapest 6.6kW kit a retailer is trying to clear from the warehouse this month.

Australia's top batteries, side by side

Four of the best home batteries we install today. Each one a strong choice — different strengths. Click a battery to start a quote with that brand locked in, or let your consultant pick the best fit for your roof and usage.

Prices are indicative installed cost ranges across our retailer panel — your final quote depends on your roof, switchboard, and choice of installer.

An honest word on price.

A good solar system isn't cheap, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling you the wrong one. Every quote is sized for your roof, your usage and your network — the numbers above are a starting point, not your final price.

The indicative prices we show are designed to help you compare brands. They assume a single-storey home with a tin roof and single-phase power, and they already include the federal STC rebate. Your consultant will verify these assumptions for your specific property.

Additional installation costs may apply depending on your home — common ones are double-storey access, tile roofs, switchboard upgrades, three-phase wiring, or extra safety requirements for battery siting. State-based rebates (like the NSW Battery Booster or VIC Solar Homes loan) can also change the final figure either way.

You'll receive a full written quote with every line item — hardware, install labour, rebates applied, and any custom costs — after your site assessment, before you commit to anything. No surprises on install day.

Saved me weeks of phone calls…
I'd already called four solar companies before a mate told me about National Grid. Wish I'd gone to them first — they got me a better price than any quote I had.

Genuinely independent advice
What sold me was that they didn't push any specific brand — they walked me through trade-offs and let me pick. Felt like talking to a friend who happens to know solar.

Have a question?

What is National Grid?

National Grid Services is your unbiased solar consultant. Solar is a complicated, expensive, and frankly intimidating purchase — and the Australian industry is full of cowboys who sell on price, undersize the system, and disappear when the warranty period starts. We exist so you don't have to navigate that alone.

Your consultant walks you through sizing, brand choice, install, and warranty in plain English. We've vetted 40+ CEC-accredited installers and we only recommend the ones still standing by their work years later. You get one person on the phone — not a queue, not a call centre, not a "specialist" reading a script.

Which installers do you work with?

We work with 40+ CEC-accredited solar retailers across Australia. Our panel includes premium installers like Solahart, SunPower, Smart Energy, Penrith Solar Centre, and many regional specialists, plus the major component brands — Sungrow, Tesla, Trina Solar, Jinko, REC Group, LONGi, Fronius, SolarEdge, SMA, Enphase, BYD, and more.

Every retailer on our panel has been independently vetted for installation quality, customer service, and warranty support — so you can choose with confidence.

How long does the process take?

From your first call to a system on your roof, the typical timeline is under 2 weeks. Day one your consultant talks you through sizing, brand options, and trade-offs. The next 24–48 hours we shortlist the retailers worth your time and walk through them with you. The installer handles site inspection (a few days), grid-connection approval (3–7 days), and install (usually a single day).

Your consultant stays on the line throughout. You're never passed to a retailer's queue or a chatbot.

Does the size of my roof matter?

Yes. Roof size, orientation, pitch, and shading all factor into how much solar your home can generate. Your consultant uses your address and bill profile to model roof capacity before recommending a system size — not the other way around.

If your roof is small or heavily shaded, we'll tell you honestly whether solar is worth it — and walk away if it isn't. Cowboys won't do this; they'll sell you a 6.6kW kit on a roof that can only support 4kW and let you find out the hard way. We don't get paid on installs that shouldn't go ahead, so we won't push them.

Will the install disrupt my power?

Most solar installs are completed in a single day with minimal disruption. Your power will be briefly switched off while the installer connects your system to the meter board — usually under an hour.

After installation, you continue using grid power as normal. Solar simply offsets your usage during the day, and exports excess back to the grid for a feed-in tariff.
