Calculators

Run the numbers for your roof

Two free calculators, both built on real Australian data — APVI generation yields, AER 2025–26 default market offers, and current retailer feed-in tariffs. No fluff, no "up to" theatre.

Right-size it

How much solar & battery do you actually need?

Most quotes default to 6.6 kW because it's the cheapest kit, not because it's right for your roof. Tell us your daily usage and postcode — we'll suggest the system size that actually matches.

Check the bottom of your power bill — it usually shows daily average use.
We use your postcode to look up local solar yield. Sydney gets ~1500 kWh per installed kW, Brisbane gets ~1620.

Why solar?

  • Offset daytime use at 32–38¢ a kWh. That's what your retailer charges. Your solar replaces it — you pay zero on the kWh you self-consume.
  • Export the rest for credit. Even at 4–7¢ feed-in, the maths still works because retailers' acquisition cost is so high.
  • 4–5 year payback, 25-year asset. Panels keep generating long after they've paid themselves off — pure profit from year 5 onwards.
  • Lifts your home value. CoreLogic data has solar-equipped homes selling for 3–5% more on average — often more than the install cost.
Without a battery, the average AU home self-consumes only about 30% of what their panels generate. The rest goes back to the grid at feed-in rates.

Why a battery on top?

  • Capture the 65% you'd otherwise export. Solar without a battery sells excess at 5¢; with a battery you bank it and use it at night for 35¢. That's a 6× spread.
  • Blackout protection. With a hybrid inverter, your home stays on when the street goes dark — fridge, lights, internet, the lot.
  • 80–90% grid independence. Most evenings you're running off stored solar, not the grid. Power-price hikes become someone else's problem.
  • Federal + state battery rebates are live in 2026. Up to $4,000 off in some states — your consultant will check what applies to you.
A right-sized battery pushes payback from ~4 years to ~6 years, but you keep saving for the next 20 years on top.
